VHF Mast Head Antenna Thru-Deck |
|
I had an antenna cable quick disconnect which I have since removed. The problem was that it degraded the signal and was just one more point for failure. My radio often would not work. I now have the antenna cable running straight through the deck and directly to the radio. I can unplug the cable from the radio and pull it through the deck. I use a through deck seal which allows me to remove the cable with the plug connector intact. It requires you drill a hole through the deck large enough to allow the plug end to pass through. But once installed, it closes off the hole and fits tight around the cable. It can be removed with 4 screws and the whole cable, including the connector end, can pass through it. Then a temporary plug fills the vacant hole. This can be found at West Marine and is in their catalog. Look for Blue Sea Systems "CableClam Waterproof Through-Deck Fittings". It comes in three sizes. Get the size which fits your fittings. |
