This page describes:
- How I added a second battery.
This was done with the help of my father (partner). Holes were drilled, the battery box tray was in place and the switch unit was installed using screws. Tools used were power drill and drill bits, screw driver, wire stripper, wire crimper and soldering gun.
- Where it is installed.
Originally I epoxied the 2nd battery box tray directly to the hull. The battery box was strapped into the tray. But, I later moved both batteries to forward of the forward cabin bulkhead. They each sit in the vee berth just forward of the bulkhead with one all the way to starboard and the other all the way to port. The switching unit is installed in the face of the bottom step in the cabin
- Where I purchased the materials necessary.
I bought the Second Battery Kit from Catalina Direct. It included the battery box and tray, the two battery switch (1-2-both-off), wires, epoxy and screws. The battery was a gift from my brother.
